I Wrote a Book: Myrtle’s Game

Nearly 30 years ago, my mum wrote a story to bring me comfort during a time I was bullied at school for being “different”. The story, Myrtle the Purple Turtle, was published last year and instantly became a best seller.

My mum and I travelled to schools all over Ontario, speaking with kids about their own experiences with bullying and feeling different.

We were so inspired that my mum and I collaborated on a second book in the Myrtle series. The name of the book is “Myrtle’s Game” and is now available for purchase in paperback as well as Kindle.  The illustrations are gorgeous, thanks to our talented illustrator, Jo Robinson.

If you’re looking for a picture-book that will inspire the children in your life to believe in themselves, to be a good friend and to always be kind and inclusive, I encourage you to check out Myrtle’s Game.

I’m still getting used to this, but I am an author! Something I’ve dreamt about since I was a child, happily getting lost in my own imagination and writing stories for anyone and everyone to read. So, I also encourage you to believe in your dreams and “go for it” when the opportunity strikes.

Happy holidays, everyone and thank you so, so much for your support of my first book, Myrtle’s Game.

My paperback copy has been ordered and is on the way, Lauren. It will be donated to the children’s section of our local library. I hope to see the whole collection of Myrtle books there someday. 🙂
